Expressive Poster
Project Statement
The project objective is to create a poster (16 in x 20 in) that reflects and highlights a specific event in my life that held significance and meaning. The event that the artist decided to go with was the first time the artist and their twin performed on stage together and won first place. The artist and their twin are performers who perform together all the time and it is something that means a lot to both of them and has become one of the most special events and memories that the two share together. The artist wanted to portray how special those moments were of being together on stage in their poster.
The colors chosen for the poster were CMYK light pink (c:000 m:31 y:000 k:000); white (c:000 m:000 y:000 k:000); green (c:90 m:20 y:100 k:000); orange (c:000 m:57 y:100 k:000); and hot pink (c:000 m:84 y:8 K:000). The orange and green represented the character colors of the characters the two were performing on stage, and used to represent their thoughts and feelings before, during, and after the performance. The pink, white, and hot pink were chosen as they represented the colors on the costumes that were worn on stage. The two typefaces that were chosen were ‘SideNote Variable: condensed bold slanted’ and ‘Interstate Mono: bold’. ‘Sidenote variable’ was chosen as the background text for the poster because the font did not stand out too much and brought more attention to the main word and font. ‘Interstate mono’ was chosen as the main text because it stands out and matches the font for the text that was used on the costumes.
Research and sketches were done in the beginning of the process for the poster project and were followed by two critique sessions that took place online and in person. Once the poster was finished, a final version was mocked up on 20 in x 24 in black foam core board and was submitted alongside this process book. The only software that was used to make the poster was Adobe InDesign.
Sketches
I ended up going with design #4 as it felt the most "toe
Versions
From left to right, here are my versions for the poster that I went through. My poster changed a lot as I went and I am very happy and satisfied with the final product.
